Untitled Post-Apocalyptic Western Update

So I did a little bit more work, just trying to work out the action now, trying to have a big showdown with lots of running and shooting. Should be fun.

Untitled Post-Apocalyptic Western Project

Haven't posted here for awhile, but I have been doing some stuff. So even though I've got several unfinished projects, I'm adding another, because why not? I scanned all the pages from my sketchbook in this morning, and have started setting the pages up for final attempts digitally, but I'll just show you all of my initial raw scans, all the different sketches and notes I've been working on. It's a pretty simple story, but I'm liking it, it'll be nice to finish it.
Also, they're kind of in reverse order, and it's too hard to try get them to go to a grid, so they're just in a column of images.

Sebastian's Story W.I.P. Cont.

I'm behind schedule, I'm not even sure where I'm meant to be at, but this is where the pages stand at the moment. It's coming along nicely, but it needs work. Right now I don't have my background figures locked in, so I need to do up a guide to say who is where and what hey look like. I did some work previously on working on their look, but keeping who is where has been trouble from page to page, since half of them are in one "sketchpad" and the rest in another. Plus the Ragman, I need to do up a proper guide for him. So far, I've only got his jacket in a final form in one panel, and it's not a full figure, so I need to do something up so I have some kind of consistency from panel to panel, page to page. Anyway, here are some pictures.

"Sebastian's Story" Sketches.

I was working on "Sebastian's Story" tonight, and I got to the part where Sebastian enters the lair of the Ragman, and I was drawing the henchmen, but realised I didn't really know who these guys were. So I thought I better finalise some designs before I went too much further. These were the sketches I did as first ideas (and probably final).

Sebastian's Story Work In Progress

Working on the next project in my plan to do 10 pages a month. These are the start of Sebastian's Story, which is kind of a working title, but I can't think of anything better. What I'm trying to work out, is out of the bottom two pages here, which tells the story better. I don't know. I like the way the last one looks with the distorted perspective on the room, but I think the picture of the girl tells the story clearer. What do you think?

"No Cure"- First Four Pages

Six more pages to letter by tomorrow, but that means four down. So I thought I'd put them up to see, hopefully for your enjoyment.

Of course I realised I made an error, so need to go back and fix some pages up, so I guess they're not quite the finished pieces, but they're pretty close.

No Cure W.I.P.

I've pretty much finished the comic, except for fixing up some panel borders and putting in the word balloons, so thought I'd show off a couple of favourite panels.

"No Cure" Work In Progress Page 8

This is pretty much what I worked on tonight. I'm really enjoying working on my Cintiq, being able to zoom in, but anyway...

Actually, looking at this, I still need to work on the character design for the bear, make him look like  a bear, rather than a teddy bear.

"No Cure" Work In Progress Pages

So I thought I'd show some of the work I've been doing over the last couple of days. I've been working on the line work and final inks and trying to work on the tones. I settled on using the waterpaint brush tool (in Corel Sketchbook) and just the black, and trying various weights on the pen. It's working out ok, but one day I'd really love to work with screentones like I grew up reading.

In these two pages, I can count I think four influences or people I'm ripping off/riffing on. This comic really is a homage/love letter to the manga I enjoy. The story and setting are inspired by Tsutomu Nihei. The bike is inspired by Katsuhiro Otomo and Akira. The display map is inspired by Ghost In The Shell, probably more the animae than the manga. And then the costume is directly ripped off from Mobile Suit Gundam Seed 00, which I was really struggling with.
